Alfie Templeman - 'Radiosoul'

8/10

When Alfie Templeman released his long-awaited debut LP 'Mellow Moon' in 2022, it was the culmination of many years building an electrifying presence on the new music scene. Bringing together all of the rich and enigmatic cuts he had created under one roof allowed him to truly take off, launching an incredible run of notable live shows since. But with the once teenage superstar now in his early twenties, it feels like a new phase within his sound is already upon us as he returns with his sophomore studio album 'Radiosoul', a record that beams with fresh and immersive textures throughout.

Moving slightly away from the spritely pop-rock of his origins in pursuit of a more soul-infused aesthetic this time around, 'Radiosoul' already feels like the beginnings of an artist finding their true voice in the world. With standout contributions from the likes of Nile Rodgers highlighting the credibility he has managed to cultivate since his previous outing, his newest endeavour is a confident roam throughout a breadth of fun and captivating grooves from start to finish.

Alfie Templeman's legacy has always been well-received, but it feels like he has found something extremely special within his aesthetic here. Creating this wonderfully absorbing flow at every turn, 'Radiosoul' sees him continue his upward ascent with style and aplomb throughout.
