Angry Saints - 'Call Me Monster'

7/10

Over these last few years, Madrid's Angry Saints have managed to establish themselves as one of the more progressive and driven names on Europe's alt-rock circuit. Blending a retro-inspired approach to their direction with a contemporary aesthetic has quickly become their calling card across a wealth of highly-praised outings throughout their tenure. And with their 'Inside Local 6' collection building upon those impressive foundations to date, they are back on the grind once again with their latest EP 'Call Me Monster', a release brimming with more of that immersive energy they are known for.

Much like what their catalogue has delivered since they first began, 'Call Me Monster' heralds more of that vibrant guitar-driven groove they are synonymous for. Keeping the production and pace as lively as possible in order to keep the EP's momentum moving ever forward, they are certainly looking to get our feet moving with this one, especially on its opener 'Personal Universal'. Jam-packed with swaggering hooks on tracks like 'Deptford Creek' and a riveting atmosphere across much of these six new offerings, this new outing finds themselves in one of their most alluring guises to date as they make light work of their explosive run of form recently.

Marking their second batch of songs for 2024 already, 'Call Me Monster' sees them just as fresh and innovative as ever. Brimming with this fun and lively flow that still manages to turn out the odd killer guitar riff from time to time, they continue to shine as one of the more exciting bands doing the rounds right now.
