Anti-Flag - '20/20 Vision'

7/10

Since their earliest beginnings, Anti-Flag have been since as one of the stalwarts for politically-motivated punk rock in the US these last twenty-four years. And while they have never been short of material for their songs, these last few years have almost seen them take on a resurgence in their anger at the state of things. In the age of Trump, the band has been more proactive than ever. Releasing a trilogy of albums between 2015-2018, all focused on the damaging and turmoiled environment that America has found itself in, they now return with '20/20 Vision', a record that doubles-down on their disgust at the US Government.

While there has always been mention of US Presidents throughout Anti-Flag songs over the years, there has not been a time when one graced the cover of their album, showing that while they have always had a politically leaning, they have never targeted an individual as much as they have Donald Trump on here. Yet while pretty much every song takes aim at the Head Of State, the band still look to make a fresh and engaging collection of songs in which to vent their anger, making for a fun and vibrant offering that sees them take the mantle from Green Day to become one of America's most passionate political acts.

'20/20 Vision' may not have the same raw and impassioned intensity that they showcased in the past, but it still manages to pack in pretty of energetic and singalong moments to keep you listening from start to finish. A bold and impressive return from a band that seem to have no trouble in keeping their spark alive.
