It is no secret that 90s RnB is having a huge influence on today's music scene. Whether its the original hits are getting reworked into new club anthems, or the sound itself as an inspiration to emerging talent, the sound of 2016 has certainly been lathered in nostalgia. And one of these newcomers have not only taken influence from these sultry beats, but have reinvented them into something far more contemporary.
Having only been together less than a year so far, London-based duo Girlhood have already started to receive huge acclaim for their debut single 'My Boy'. With a sound that aims to recreate the piano-led focus of the original RnB vibe, mixed with powerful vocals, glitching electronics, and even the odd saxophone solo, 'My Boy' is definitely one hell of an introduction.
It is clear that these two are onto something truly special and will no doubt be on our watch-list for the next year or so. Have a listen to 'My Boy' in the player below.
