ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No. 139 DREAMCAR

As far as supergroups go, this one is an absolute doozy. Combining No Doubt's musical backdrop of Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont with AFI-frontman Davey Havok, you would be mistaken in thinking that this would be another punk-inspired side-project, given their credentials to date.

However, rather than opting for the more comfortable directions their previous bands were known for, DREAMCAR is an attempt for the members to embark on something far different this time around. Their new wave influences can be clearly heard through their debut single 'Kill For Candy', which sees them having more of a new-romantic-meets-80s-goth vibe than anything else. With a strong vocal performance from Havok, the track finds itself as an incredibly strong start for the group, showing that this isn't just another midlife crisis from these ageing rockers.

The band have already announced their plans to release their self-titled debut album on the 12th May, and as you would expect from their alumnied past, is already hotly becoming one of the most anticipated new albums of the year.
