ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No. 203 LION

After first exploding onto the scene with her brilliant debut single 'Self Control', emerging frontwoman LION aka Beth Lowen now looks to cement her raucous sound with the unveiling of her latest release.

Her new track 'Oh No' has been described as a cross between The White Stripes and Florence Welch (although we feel it sounds more like St Vincent fronting The Black Keys), and continues that raw and energetic sound she was known for at the start of her career. Produced at London's Snap Studios with drummer Rich Cooper, the new single really brings her tenacious style to life as she boldly moves through the track with a real swagger and confidence.

Describing her sound, LION said, “I hope people feel something, like I do when I’m playing it. Take what you want from it, but feel. I want to make boys cry.”

LION is due to make a number of festival appearance later this year, including Neverworld, Boardmasters and JoeFest, as well as a show at London's Camden Assembly on the 6th September and again for The British Sound Project in Manchester on the 22nd. Have a listen to 'Oh No' in the player below.
