Grime music has been bigger than ever over the last few years and 2015 was truly the biggest 12 months in its history. But with so many veterans of the genre reemerging as the figureheads of the scene, who are the fresh blood ready to take the sound to the next level? Well one of those upstarts is young London MC Elf Kid.
With just his debut single 'Golden Boy' to his name, Elf Kid has found himself as one of most talked about new artists over the cross into the new year. Sampling The Meters' track 'Oh, Calcutta!', the same Amerie used for her hit single '1 Thing', producer Lolingo has chopped up the original and reassembled it as a frenzied beat that Elf Kid does his best to match with impeccable flow.
'Golden Boy' has found itself on the playlist for a vast array of Radio 1 DJs, as well as getting tipped by Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show at the end of last year.
It may still be early days but the hype for this young MC is growing fast and by this time next year could become held up as the next big thing to enter the grime scene.
