Blind Pilot - 'And Then Like Lions'

8/10

Having proved themselves extremely prolific in their formative years, releasing two albums and an EP in the first three years, Blind Pilot return for the first time since 2011 to deliver their highly-anticipated third studio album 'And Then Like Lions'. And from just the first few tracks, you can tell that the band took their time in recording this release.

With an immediate no-rush mantra, the record sets itself up to be nothing more than a smooth ride, filled with the occasionally explosion of emotion and grandeur. The album screams patience, as each track holds to a refrained pace that helps keep the album, not only fused together well, but shows that this band didn't feel the external pressure to release an album in the shortest possible time.

This is the slow-cooked approach to music, and the result is something spectacular indeed. It creates an extremely comfortable setting and you can't helped but feel a sense of relaxation as it plays. Certainly a return any band would be proud of.
