Bombay Bicycle Club - 'Fantasies'

8/10

After fully realising their comeback with their stunning sixth studio album 'My Big Day' last year, it feels as if we are now very much into the second era of the Bombay Bicycle Club sound. Older and more matured within their aesthetic, their recent LP saw them venture towards a more dreamlike state and reestablish their place on the mainstream scene. But not looking to put a line under this period just yet, they have now returned with a new collaborative EP 'Fantasies', a release that broadens their immersive direction right now.

Teaming up with a string of high-profile vocalists including Lucy Rose, Rae Morris, Liz Lawrence and Matilda Mann, 'Fantasies' sees them deliver a beautifully warm and endearing extension to their latest full-length. Keeping very much in the same vein as what 'My Big Day' was all about, this new four-track collection aims to unveil more of that shimmering appeal they have curated recently, doubling down on this incredibly engaging moment in their tenure throughout.

While it has been meant as a follow on to their recent album, 'Fantasies' still manages to stand alone as its own succinct addition within their glorious catalogue to date. Brimming with so much love and passion, they are certainly in one of their most creative eras of their career right now.
