Cassia - 'Replica'

7/10

Having been tipped as one of the most likeable new bands of the last year, indie-pop trio Cassia have been busy establishing their sound across the world ever since. With a delightful and uplifting style, the group have been making quick waves across their scene of late, and after a flurry of new material, they have finally shared the first major milestone of their career so far in the form of their debut album 'Replica'. A record that looks to fill our hearts and ears with as much joy as it possibly can.

From the very start, 'Replica' keeps itself very much in the upper lexicon of moods and keys. Channelling the spritely approach made famous by Vampire Weekend, the three-piece skip gallantly through this new collection, unveiling one slice of blissful sunshine with every track. And although they don't look to break any new boundaries or embark on anything experimental, what they do they do it well, as this new album manages to keep up a solid pace and energy, aiding the release in creating a fully-formed aesthetic that rarely falters at any stage.

It is probably fair to say that you aren't likely to hear a more upbeat and refreshing record this year. Cassia's own brand of indie-pop is so sickly sweet, you'll be hard pressed to find even a hint of cynicism on here. A bright and confident debut from a band that look to be your soundtrack to the summer.
