Corella - 'Once Upon A Weekend'

7/10

Over these last few years, Manchester-based outfit Corella have spent their time garnering and cultivating a devout following for themselves. Kicking out a batch of fresh and uplifting indie-rock anthems has quickly brought them to prominence on the new music scene, earning them countless praise and acclaim along the way. And now with a string of high-profile festival appearances on the horizon, they unveil their eagerly-awaited debut album 'Once Upon A Weekend', a record that continues that vibrant direction they have always pursued.

Similar to what their output has proven over the years, 'Once Upon A Weekend' is another heady dose of riveting guitar hooks and stellar grooves that have always permeated the Corella sound. Moving with this subtle elegance between each of the tracks, their newest collection aims to add a grander and more sprawling approach to their production, giving it this larger-than-life feel that will no doubt serve them very well as the stages get bigger in the years ahead.

While they could be compared to a number of notable addition on the current indie-rock circuit, Corella still manage to create a distinctive appeal to themselves here. Brimming with fresh and exciting ideas throughout, 'Once Upon A Weekend' sees them make quite the statement for where their ambitions lie for the future.
