David C Clements - 'The Garden'

7/10

Despite originally emerging on the scene with his stunning breakthrough debut LP 'The Longest Day In History' back in 2016, Northern Ireland's David C Clements suddenly vanished from the new music scene. While still a major player behind the scenes, as well as standing in as lead singer of Two Door Cinema Club on their South American festival run, it felt as though being on his own under the limelight just wasn't what he was looking for. But after returning out of nowhere earlier this year with a breadth of dazzling new material, he is now back once again to unveil his long-awaited sophomore album 'The Garden', a record that sees him back to his best once again.

Working alongside Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and Iain Archer, as well as long-time producer Michael Keeney (Foy Vance, SOAK) for this new release, 'The Garden' sees him returning to the fold in truly euphoric fashion. Honing more of that rich and uplifting indie-rock aesthetic he first made a name for himself with, his latest outing finds him in a wonderfully riveting guise as he turns out one heartfelt and emotive track after another.

It may have been a long time coming, but he has clearly taken his time when it comes to crafting 'The Garden'. Brimming with this warmth and vigour from start to finish, David C Clements returns to us with some of his more captivating material to date here.
