Over the last few years, Chicago's Dehd have grown from a humble trio on the outskirts of America's new music scene to become one of its more revered. With 2020’s 'Flower Of Devotion' and 2022’s 'Blue Skies' showcasing some of their more enigmatic qualities, the band's sound has morphed considerably with each release, giving them this incredibly deep and immersive direction. And with more high-profile praise for their recent run of singles, they return with their third studio album 'Poetry', a record that dives further into their rustic aesthetic.
Much like its title suggests, 'Poetry' seems to adopt more of the traditional country and folk spirit of their homeland. Offering up some beautifully endearing offerings that pulsate with emotive lyrics from start to finish, Dehd are a far more confident and assured collective this time around. Moving with this rich and playful atmosphere throughout, they have certainly delivered their most ambitious and adventurous release to date here.
They still may not have the mainstream appreciation they deserve, but 'Poetry' shows that they are still managing to uncover new and fascinating ideas in which to evolve from. Brimming with some of their most passionate songwriting to date, this is one release you'll want to come back to again and again.
