Ezra Furman - 'Transangelic Exodus'

8/10

Since the start of his career, Ezra Furman has flip-flopped around the guises he portrays to the world. While sometimes releasing music with the help of a backing band or alter ego, the frontman has now returned to his own solo state for the second time on his new release 'Transangelic Exodus', a record that delivers far more fun and tenacity than we were expecting from the singles we heard.

After releasing his last album 'Perpetual Motion People' alongside The Boy-friends back in 2015, Furman pictured himself as a grand songwriter, whose delivery was only matched by his talent. Now we seem to be experiencing a more personal side to his writing, showing a lot more emotion and feeling this time around. With the opener 'Suck The Blood From My Wound' waking us up with its powerful energy, the album quickly adopts this surge of passion and runs with it throughout.

Fans of his previous work may be a little surprised with this slight change to his sound, but will love it either way. After releasing music for so long, Furman seems to have finally found himself within his work and this new release gives us a more comfortable side to his intentions.
