The legendary frontman of The Fall, Mark E. Smith, has died at the age of 60.
The news was announced via a Fall Twitter account yesterday before being confirmed by his manager, stating, “It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Mark E. Smith. He passed this morning at home. A more detailed statement will follow in the next few days. In the meantime, Pam & Mark’s family request privacy at this sad time”.
Aside from the music, Smith was a notoriously outspoken individual and his inability to mince words was one of the main reasons he became such a cult icon. In 2017, The Fall released their 32nd 'New Facts Emerge', showing that he was a committed musician throughout his entire life.
One of the band's most synonymous records was the 1988 release 'The Frenz Experiment', of which the hit single 'Hit The North' featured, which you can hear again in the player below.
