George Ezra - 'Staying At Tamara's'

7/10

When he released his debut album 'Wanted On Voyage' back in 2014, George Ezra quickly grew from a cult name to a worldwide sensation. His cheerful demeanour and baritone vocals became instantly identifiable in the wash of commercial guff at the time and set him up as one of the country's most loved singer-songwriters. But after four years in almost complete silence, he is back with his highly-anticipated sophomore full-length 'Staying At Tamara's', a record that shows he has truly found his confidence.

When you first switch on to this new album, you will notice that Ezra spends much of the release singing through a smile, and justifiably so. The man has become so well acclaimed, you'd find it hard to be depressed, and that has resulted in a rather chipper follow up album. 'Staying At Tamara's' has taken the more jovial side of his debut and upped the ante to create the perfect soundtrack to these warming springtime days.

It may not have that instant grab factor his first LP managed to create, but there is still plenty to get obsessed with on this new release. A solid follow-up to a record that really would have been hard to top, so kudos to George for still bringing his A-game.
