What were the first instruments you fell in love with?

[Darren - Bassist] Before I picked up the bass I was an aspiring drummer. I was a percussionist in band class all through middle and high school, and absolutely loved it. I ultimately begged my dad for a drum set and auditioned for every band in my hometown. Unfortunately I was a much better bass player.

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

[Victor - Drummer] One of the prominent themes behind our music is breaking out of the routine of everyday life. We all have our lives and it’s easy to lose track of time. Our music gives us an opportunity to recapture some of that time and to remember what’s really important.

What kind of music did you love as teenagers?

[Mikael - Vocalist] I really loved oldies, like sam cooke and beatles. Music from the 50s and 60s had many great songwriters that I deeply appreciated growing up.

What inspires you to make music?

[Darren - Bassist] I think all 3 of us inspire each other to make music. When life gets overwhelming, Mikael and Victor are always there to pull me out of the gutter. They don’t even have to say a word to me. Whenever we are together and behind our instruments I’m instantly inspired.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

[Victor - Drummer] Currently some of my favorite artists are Bill Evans, Charles Mingus, and Frank Sinatra.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

[Mikael - Vocalist] Three.

What has been the funniest moment in your career so far?

[Darren- Bassist] In our early days we used to throw house party shows all the time. This one in particular I told the band I couldn’t play but I had a friend named Pete that was flying in from Queens that knew all our songs and could sub in for me. On the day of the show I showed up with all my gear, but I dressed up in a full spandex Spider-Man costume. That was hands down the best show I’ve ever played. I’m pretty sure the rest of the band never found out that I was secretly Spider-Man the whole time.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

[Victor - Drummer] I would’ve loved to have opened up for Led Zeppelin back in the day.

If you weren’t musicians, what other path do you think you might have taken?

[Victor - Drummer] Outside of music I’m an aspiring electrical engineer. I work as an electrician now but I’d like to go back to college to accomplish that.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as musicians?

[Mikael - Vocalist] There are two pieces of advice I’ve gotten that really stuck with me. [1] Look at practice as training or working out. It’s meant to make you a stronger musician, and this outlook on practicing will avoid it feeling like a chore. [2] Don't compare yourself to someone else. Compare yourself today to yourself yesterday.
