What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Piano. I’m a massive geek when it comes to chords so I became obsessed when learning piano.

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

Listening to music from artists that have really honest lyrics always inspire me to sit and write down whatever is on my mind. I try to make sure my lyrics are as frank as possible and never too abstract.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

I was quite a late starter to be honest. I didn’t really listen to anything until I was 16/17 as playing or listening to music just wasn’t a thing that me and mates did growing up. But then going to college and meeting new people I was introduced to stuff from the 90s like the Stone Roses and quickly became mesmerised by the romance and culture that surrounded music and realised what all the fuss was about.

Can you remember the first song that made you want to pursue a life in music?

Otherside of the game by Erykah Badu, I got lost in that song for about 3 weeks when I first heard it.

When you wake up in the morning, what kind of music do you like to listen to?

Usually something soft, jazzy and not too in your face as I’m not much of a morning person.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

Loads of rubbish ones, but not many good ones. I think my best songs come from self expression as I enjoy writing them the most, it feels like such a weight off my shoulders when I get the thoughts running around my head down on paper.

What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?

My first ever solo gig. It was at a festival called Richmond Live in front of all my best mates who’d come down to see me for the first time. I was absolutely shitting myself beforehand but it felt beautiful once I got going.

Outside of music, what is your biggest passion?

Probably football as I’m a top class geezer.

If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?

Either doing something at uni that I hated or still living in with my parents working as something I hated.

And what advice would you give to other musicians looking to start a career in music?

Although I can’t give advice on how to succeed yet, I would recommend to any artists they do their very best to surround themselves with similar minded wonderful people. Whether it’s in your band, your management or even just who you live with, I’ve found that I enjoy my experiences in music the most when I’m sharing them with people that I love and trust.
