Getting To Know... Mike Smiff

Following on from the release of his latest singles ‘Big Steppin’, ‘Fed-Up’ and featuring on Kodak Black’s new track, ‘Vulture's Cry 2’, which has ranked up close to 4 million streams as well as 2 million views on YouTube in just two weeks, singer and songwriter Mike Smiff now returns with ‘No Feelings’, taken from his exciting new project ‘Family Business’.

With its smooth and seductive RnB tones, 'No Feelings' acts as the perfect example of his latest full-length. Taking his bright and euphoric vocals and combining them with bright and sultry production, this newest jam is the perfect slow-jam banger for lounging in the summer sun.

So with his new release now with us, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has inspired him over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Fell In love with the snare drum!! I remember being in church as a child & seeing The drummer go to work with just the snare drum. I was tuned in!

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

My music is inspired by real life!! The good, bad, & ugly things I feel, seen & experienced.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

I was & always will be a Trick Daddy fanatic!

Can you remember the first song that made you want to pursue a life in music?

I been in love with music since elementary so it wasn’t a song it was just in me. I don’t even know where it stemmed from.

When you wake up in the morning, what kind of music do you like to listen to?

I listen to a lot of R&B & Gospel believe it or not.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

About 90% of my music comes from people in my life.

What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?

Being able to put money in my Mom's hand meant the world to me.

Outside of music, what is your biggest passion?

Being a father.

If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?

Probably would have been dead or in prison. Music saved my life!

And what advice would you give to other musicians looking to start a career in music?

Don’t Cheat The Grind.
