What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

The tablas (south Asian drums) that’s what brought me to find my voice as a singer!

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

I grew up with French, Arabic, Bollywood and Turkish music on one side and the other was the divas of R&B and pop that taught me all I needed to know as an artist.

What was the first album you remember owning?

I think it was Mariah Carey’s daydream album! She is like a musical god to me!

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Ohhhh damn, hard question, maybe HERO by Mariah or dolly partons I will always love you, imagine the dollass we be making! haha

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Inspiration comes from all around so no set ritual, just constantly inspired.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I'm obsessed with Snoh Allegra, I go back to Sade and Aaliyah a lot, Diana Ross disco stuff has been playing a lot!

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Sade!!

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Being able to tell stories through song and inspiring people to be better versions of themselves or hopefully think about a situation or themselves a bit differently, in a more positive way that might lead to change.

And what is the most frustrating part?

The ever changing trends to keep up with, some are great and others are exhausting!

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Don’t follow the crowd as it might lead you to a place you don’t want to go, that was the best advice given to me by one of my musical heroes Natalie Cole. Very grateful for that convo.
