Hollow Hand - 'Your Own Adventure'

7/10

Over the last few years, Brighton's Max Kinghorn-Mills has built a strong and confident direction for his Hollow Hand project. Largely influenced by the warm and sweeping side to the psych-rock sound, his work to date has been filled with a warm and tender approach that has allowed him to stand out within his contemporaries to date, and venture a path rarely formed amongst his kinship. And after a flurry of enticing offerings throughout the last few months, he returns with his third studio album 'Your Own Adventure', a record that continues that effervescent intention.

From the very start, 'Your Own Adventure' makes for a wonderfully bright and easygoing listen. Developing the rich and atmospheric approach he has showcased on previous outings, his latest release sees him in a more assured light as he dabbles in a vast array of eccentric ideas that help boost his aesthetic further. Wrapped up in a beautifully adorned production that lets his vocal breathe throughout, he has returned with a wonderfully shimmering collection here.

While his material over the years has certainly been a joy to experience, 'Your Own Adventure' sees him make bold strides within his diverse songwriting, creating a brilliantly varied ride. He may still be on the peripheries of mainstream success, but his humbled approach keeps him one of the UK's most undervalued artists on the scene today.
