After their 2016 debut album 'Warm On A Cold Night' saw the duo focus themselves on a almost post-punk-meets-electronica direction, one that proved to be a like it or lump it path, electronic duo HONNE have spent the last few months releasing this record two singles at a time. The idea behind this concept was for the pair to focus their style on just two tracks at a time, which would then come together to form a full-length release filled with eclectic inspirations and diverse influences, something that they have just about managed to pull off.

It was clear after the more critical opinions about their first full-length that they needed to adopt a more multifaceted intention within their sound, which would explain why this new release seems a little all over the shop at times. But while their debut record was a focused affair, 'Love Me / Love Me Not' (much like its title) is more of the experimental side of these two. Ultimately, the album is about love, both having it and losing it, and while that makes for an interesting idea, it does have trouble juggling both sides of the spectrum for a full twelve tracks.

Overall, HONNE have managed to throw some excellent tunes in here, but seem overshadowed by the weaker elements. But unlike the debut, this new record is far more contemporary and forward-thinking throughout, showing that while they are still finding their feet, they have definitely got the spirit and talent to pull some spectacular anthems out of the bag.
