jennylee- 'Right On!'

6/10

Having already established herself as a core member of one of this decade's most incredible bands, Jenny Lee Lindberg is stepping away from the comfort of her fellow Warpaint members and delivering an album all of her own. With a far more stripped back sound, the jennylee project seems to be more of an outlet to give this promising songwriter her own time in the spotlight.

Filled with minor chords and an over-arcing sense of despair, 'Right On!' aims to capture that desolate sound of modern US rock that bands like Wavves and Best Coast have benefitted so heavily from. While it is mostly a low key affair, the album does have its moments of elation, which definitely help move the record along and prevent it from losing pace at some early stages.

A confident if not simple release. While the jennylee project certainly has its merits, it hasn't quite made the splash we were hoping for on this new release.
