Jimmy Eat World - 'Integrity Blues'

7/10

Jimmy Eat World will certainly hold a soft-spot for fellow older millennials. There was a time when every coming of age youngster over the turn of the century could recite the lyrics to any one of their songs. Setting the foundations for the emo scene that would later follow, the band have been consistently releasing new music ever since, and now we find them nine albums deep with their latest full-length 'Integrity Blues', a record that shows they have grown into their post-modern power ballad disposition.

While a lot of the old Jimmy Eat World still remains on this latest release, you can hear that they are looking to try something new every now and again. This feels like a fresh and rejuvenated band, far from reaching the end of their career. While they may now be more of a pop rock band than anything else, their capacity for brilliant songwriting hasn't faltered as they manage to swagger their way through this new album, barely putting a foot wrong.

Dropping the soppy attitude and swapping it up for a brave and anthemic new direction has seen them really hit their stride, as 'Integrity Blues' shows us a group who surely aren't going anywhere soon.
