King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - 'Nonagon Infinity'

8/10

There are two things that everyone should love about Aussie psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. One, their fantastic name, and two, the fact that new music is never far away. 'Nonagon Infinity' is the band's third studio full-length in the last 12 months, and eighth of their career so far. But despite giving little to no time between albums, they manage to maintain a level of brilliance that can only come from the Lizard Wizard.

Much like the rich history of modern Australian rock bands like The Vines and Jet, King Gizzard hold a lot of their sound in the pace of their music. The faster and more spun out, the better as 'Nonagon Infinity' aims to create an almost out of control juggernaut of riffs and calamity. They seem to spend a lot of time on this album building up to chaos, frequently dropping the tune to embark into an all-out frenzy of guitars and drums, which seems to quickly make itself known as their signature move.

It's fun and enjoyable, if not a little repetitive in places. Sometimes you feel like a song is going on too long until you release it is actually the next track on the record. But nevertheless, 'Nonagon Infinity' does an incredible job of keeping the listener awake and engaged, and makes for a top-notch listen.
