Lo Moon - 'I Wish You Way More Than Luck'

7/10

When Lo Moon first broke through with their exceptional self-titled debut LP in 2018, it was met with esteemed praise but didn't manage to connect with wider audiences as well as many would have hoped. So while their sound was this rich and euphoric endeavour, they found themselves skirting the peripheries of the commercial scene, which then influenced the more immersive direction they took for their sophomore outing 'A Modern Life'. And with the momentum of that release still behind them, they return once again with their third studio album 'I Wish You Way More Than Luck', a record that continues that warm and inviting appeal.

Much like what their previous material highlighted, 'I Wish You Way More Than Luck' hones a beautifully broad and endearing atmosphere in which for the band to lay their sprawling shoegaze-inspired sound on top of. Creating this fresh and illuminating aesthetic that ebbs and flows across its explorative runtime, Lo Moon feel far more at ease within their direction this time around, producing something far more cohesive and succinct than ever before.

Things have certainly changed a lot for them since those initial beginnings, but 'I Wish You More Than Luck' shows they still have plenty of creative ambition coursing through them. With a passionate approach to both songwriting and production, Lo Moon return with one of their most confident offerings to date.
