Los Bitchos - 'Talkie Talkie'

8/10

When they first emerged with their breakthrough debut LP 'Let The Festivities Begin!' in 2022, London's Los Bitchos were greeted as one of the more innovative and distinctive names emerging on the scene. Blending a mixture of Latin-infused rhythms, experimental pop sensibilities, and punk-inspired grooves to create their unique direction, they were quickly heralded as one of the more exciting names on the rise at the time. And with their profile continuing to grow since then, they are now back once again to deliver their sophomore studio album 'Talkie Talkie', a record that continues that vibrant aesthetic throughout.

Moving in a very similar vein to what their initial offering unveiled, 'Talkie Talkie' delivers a wonderfully rich and dreamy array of delights, all focused around that instrumental appeal they have crafted since they first emerged. Embarking on an even more diverse avenue this time around, occasionally taking cues from 80s synth-pop vibes and sometimes a more Caribbean-esque inspiration, their latest material aims to build upon the reputation they harnessed at the beginning of their tenure, delivering something surprising as often as possible.

While we may have gotten used to what to expect from a Los Bitchos record by now, 'Talkie Talkie' still likes to throw in the odd curveball to keep us on our toes. Making for this wildly adventurous and unpredictable listen, they are continuing to establish themselves as one of the more exciting names doing the rounds right now.
