Lovespeake - 'DNA'

8/10

Following in the footsteps of their nation's more commonly recognised exports of Royksopp, Todd Terje and Alan Walker, Norwegian synth-pop duo Lovespeake deliver their debut album 'DNA'. Combining a classic disco and funk sound with modern production, making them more like a Scandinavian Chromeo, the pair have managed to create a direction that is both intriguing and enjoyable in equal measure.

Opening with the album's title track 'DNA', you get an instant sense of where this album is going in just a few bars. From start to finish, this full-length is brimming with catchy hooks and creative displays of production, making it a truly high-calibre listen to take in. Whether its the blissful ambience of 'Dreamer' or the guitar solo in 'Tightrope', there is always a surprise waiting round the corner on every track.

A truly great debut from an outfit that will no doubt become yet another cult name from our Scandinavian neighbours. Get ready to dance!
