When indie-rockers Spring King surprisingly called it a day back in 2018, it wasn't long before members Peter Darlington and James Green began work on a new project called Meadow Meadow. Turning out a string of warm and enchanting lo-fi ditties these last few years, the pair have since been joined by bassist Maya Bovill and drummer Holly Hardy to flesh out their woozy aesthetic as they now look to cement their vibrant legacy to date with the release of their eagerly-awaited debut album 'You Are So Alive', a record beaming with rich and alluring textures.
When Meadow Meadow first arrived on the scene, the instant distinction between them and their formative outfit was extremely palpable. Swapping heady riffs for a more sombre and solemn direction throughout, 'You Are So Alive' builds upon that initial buzz and shows that they are more than ready to bring this new venture to full fruition. With its wonderfully diverse appeal, swooning eccentricities, and vibrant atmosphere at every turn, their first full-length establishes them as one of the more passionate names on the rise today.
While these last few years have certainly been great for their own self-discovery and innovation, 'You Are So Alive' is already brimming with a raw confidence throughout. They may have been quick to move on from their Spring King days, but it feels like Meadow Meadow are going to be hanging around for many years to come as well.
