Pale Waves team up with Lawrence Rothman on new single 'SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide'

With Courtney Love and Soccer Mommy already unveiling their contributions to The Turning soundtrack at the end of last year, Pale Waves and Lawrence Rothman have now teamed up to offer their addition to the forthcoming release.

The new single 'SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide' is the latest in a stellar line of artists who will feature on the score to the upcoming film, including Mitski, Empress Of, The Aubrey’s Ft. Finn Wolfhard, Vagabon, Cherry Glazerr, Kim Gordon, Warpaint and many more, and sees the pairing channel more of that blissful 90s-era sound that the movie is looking to portray.

Speaking about their offering, Rothman said, “'The Turning' takes place in 1990’s - instead of using licensed 90’s music- Floria and I wanted to create a soundtrack that was 90’s influenced mixing our favorite new artist and a few from the 90’s era. Giving the film its own world and its own unique version of the 90’s that only the film lives in. 'SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide' was written from the perspective of Kate played by Mackenzie Davis. Her character is driven to madness from harboring a truth that know one wants to believe. The people she confides in abandon her which drives her to delusion and into a mental abyss. Heather from Pale Waves vocal was tracked in two takes, her voice added a beautiful rawness and urgency to the lyrics that bound together with the fractured Kate”

'The Turning' soundtrack is expected to be released on the 24th January via KRO Records, and you can check out 'SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide' in the player below.
