Prinzhorn Dance School - 'Home Economics'

7/10

Returning for the first time since their 2011 sophomore album 'Clay Class', Brighton-based duo Prinzhorn Dance School unveil their latest studio effort 'Home Economics'. Despite being such a compact album with just six tracks, this new release aims to continue the band's own mission in keeping a political message running throughout its incredibly catchy and danceable exterior.

Coming across like the Pink Floyd of the XX generation, 'Home Economics' is less about the extensive journey and more about engaging with the limited amount of material on offer. To their own admission, this album aims to add a glimmer of hope into an otherwise distressing time for most young people in Britain. Utilising their minimal approach to songwriting, the record creates a sense of inviting warmth throughout with every track taking its own separate emotional journey.

Released on the ever forward-thinking DFA label, 'Home Economics' is that perfect balance of left-of-centre musical direction and competent rhythm that not only makes it an easy to digest listen, but also leaves you feeling fulfilled by the end.
