Saint Motel - 'saintmotelevision'

8/10

When US indie rock troupe Saint Motel released their debut album 'Voyeur' back in 2012, the record managed to reignite some love for the faltering cult genre at the time. Their approach to a fun-loving dynamic mixed with eclectic musicianship was a clear winner in the eyes of the public and critics alike. And despite only a single EP release since that debut album, the band return with their long-awaited follow-up 'saintmotelevision', a record that had little to no hype around it.

It does seem strange that this new album had almost no promotion behind it, mainly because not only is Saint Motel a great band, but this release is certainly something to admire. Following further into their diverse direction, 'saintmotelevision' have managed to improve on their debut in some areas. The record feels more compact and easier to digest than before, and most importantly, has a clear evolution over the sound of their first record.

This album could become one of the best undiscovered gems of the year so far. A proper party record from start to finish, Saint Motel have returned to full form with saxophone solos and all.
