Shaun Lewis - 'SL EP 1'

8/10

Over these last few months, Wirral's Shaun Lewis has been busy crafting a bold and innovative direction in which to call his own. Taking cues from the glittering spectrum of the alt-rock sound, he has developed a sound that is both familiar yet distinctive to himself, adding that sense of true passion into his work throughout. And after plenty of self-discovery rlately, he is now ready to break through and deliver his hotly-tipped debut EP 'SL EP 1', a collection that aims to introduce him as one of the more exciting names emerging right now.

Right from the very start, 'SL EP 1' looks to make some serious noise. Adopting this raw and driven guitar-driven sound, alongside some wildly immersive production to boot, this new four-track offering is certainly looking to turn some heads as it plays. While his influences certainly lie in the more thunderous additions of the 90s Britpop scene, his aesthetic has this far more explosive feel than most, giving him a thoroughly enjoyable identity as he makes light work of these blistering anthems at every turn.

It may be his only piece of new material to date, but 'SL EP 1' is already showing incredible promise for the young upstart. Brimming with killer hooks and a tenacious energy throughout, we can't wait to hear what else he has been working on as well.
