VANT - 'Dumb Blood'

7/10

For more than a year now, we have been captivated by the output of London-via-Brighton outfit VANT. Their contemporary grunge sound pays homage to the genre yet the band themselves have their own fire and tenacity to bring to the scene, giving them their own unique sound and direction in the process. 'Dumb Blood' is the long-awaited debut album from the group, and features a number of their most notable singles from the last two years.

Despite releasing a whopping six singles prior to this release, all of which have made it onto the 13-track album, the band have still managed to create an incredible succinct and cohesive record. Each track seems to be able to complement the one before it, and the result is tight-nit collection of songs that manage to brilliantly display the origins of this band's sound over their formative years.

It is a positive start for VANT as 'Dumb Blood' not only meets the expectations they have been laying out for years, but in some cases, supersedes it. The album is a great introduction for those that may have only heard them in passing, and shows a great level of confidence for their future.
