The Who announce final tour

It has been a mute talking point for the last few months but it seems that The Who have finally come to a consensus about their future as a band.

Later this year the band will mark their 50th anniversary with a nine-date tour across the UK with plans to retire from the business shortly after.

Described as "the beginning of the long goodbye" by singer Roger Daltrey, The Who Hits 50 tour will include their biggest catalogue of songs to date and even plan to play a few tracks by the band's original name The High Numbers.

Discussing how he plans to spend retirement, guitarist Pete Townshend said, "Trying to stay young. Not wearing socks. Growing a great big woodcutter's beard. Might even wear a check shirt onstage and get a tattoo of a Union Jack. Always a fashion victim. But under no illusions. We are what we are, and extremely good at it, but we're lucky to be alive and still touring."

The tour kicks off at Glasgow's SSE Hydro on the 30th November before the band play their last ever show at The O2 Arena on the 17th December. Tickets for the shows go on sale on the 4th July at 9am and you can see the full list of dates below.
