worriedaboutsatan - 'Even Temper'

7/10

Having proved themselves as a prolific pair during their formative years, releasing an album and two EPs between 2006-2009, ethereal electronic duo worriedaboutsatan have been unusually silent over the last half decade. After a five year absence the pair did return with a new double A side single 'I'm Not / The Next Round' in 2014, and a year later have finally released a follow up to their 2009 debut album 'Arrivals'.

While it may seem like a long time to be out of the creative cycle, their latest release 'Even Temper' seems to pick up almost exactly where they left off, by creating humble and abstract beats that look to calm the soul of the listener. And although it will be hard to find fault with such a simple and blissful collection of tracks, the couple have managed to create a beautifully structured full-length that takes pace and growth into consideration as you begin to find the music working its way throughout a slow progression before letting you down right at the end.

It's hard to say whether their fans will appreciate the wait for this new material, but it certainly shows that a great level of detail and exploration has gone into this new release. A confident return for these cult favourites.
