Matt Maltese announces new album 'Hers'

Matt Maltese has announced his sixth studio album 'Hers', set for release on Friday 16th May via The Orchard. The London-based singer-songwriter delivers his most insular and intimate record yet, marking his first fully self-produced project since 'Krystal'.

Pairing poignant songwriting and dry wit with the soft creak of an old piano, sweeping strings, and delicate woodwind flourishes, 'Hers' exists in a twilight world—a space of reflection on the complexities of long-term love and heartbreak.

“I’ve written a lot of music that comes from a place of infatuation, but this record was written on reflection of a much longer-term love. The complications and wonderful roads that that goes through and the more informed heartaches that come out of it. I got to really reflect and slave over it… It’s a bit like having a year to write a really important email,” Maltese shares.

Alongside the album announcement, Matt has also released his latest single ‘Always Some MF’, following January’s yearning ‘Anytime, Anyplace, Anyhow’. On this track, Maltese playfully takes on the role of a faux tough guy, wrestling with flashes of jealousy that arise even in the most loving relationships—“he’d have to be clinically dead to not want you,” he croons over warm instrumentation.

The single arrives with a striking music video directed by Prasanna Puwanarajah, starring Nadia Parkes and Ira Mandela Siobhan alongside Maltese, as he turns his hand to fencing in a duel for love.
