All The Nines - 'EP'

7/10

Since breaking through with their much-loved debut album 'Love Me, I'm Evil' in 2019, Hartlepool's All The Nines have had more trouble than most getting themselves off the ground. With a full UK tour originally in the works to support that release, the pandemic halted nearly all of their plans, resulting in the group falling out of people's minds and unable to get their momentum back. But after returning earlier this year with their long-awaited comeback single 'The Yodeller', they now look to get back to their best once again with 'EP', a three-track collection that explodes with vigour and flair throughout.

Continuing that same innovative approach their initial full-length was brimming with, 'EP' is more of a reintroduction to the scene for the enigmatic five-piece. Despite its short and spritely runtime, the band manage to pack in plenty of bold and interesting ideas from beginning to end, making for an incredibly engaging listen throughout. Taking cues from the US post hardcore sound and rebranding it for a contemporary ear, this new collection makes for a strong and confident return to the fold for them.

It may have taken longer to arrive than they would have wanted, but 'EP' is clearly a labour of love for them. Exploring this multitude of aesthetics and textures across its run, All The Nines are back and ready to deliver more of that bombastic sound they first earned a reputation for.
