Angel Haze - 'Back To The Woods'

7/10

After the commercial disaster that was her debut album 'Dirty Gold', Angel Haze has looked to learn from her mistakes on her debut. Blaming major label intrusion and lack of financial support for the disappointing sales of her debut, Haze has since moved on from her old imprint and seems far more at home on this new release. 'Back To The Woods' aims to rekindle the raw passion the MC gave on her original mixtapes and it seems like she is more than back to her old ways.

Being completely produced by Tk Kayembe has not only helped the album keep a cohesive flow, but the collaboration between the two has gelled exceptionally well and helped Haze get her voice back. Delivering the venomous and visually vivid lyrics she always has, Angel Haze has taken this record by the throat and proven that she is not what she appeared on her debut.

A far more matured sound with a dark and lucid backdrop has made 'Back To The Woods' one of the most engaging hip-hop albums we have heard this year. Its mix of light vocals and dark rap shows Angel Haze has the true talent she is and one that can't be held back.
