Throughout this year, Brighton-based four-piece Yonaka have moved from strength to strength. After their debut single 'Run' was picked up by BBC Radio 1 earlier this year, the rock outfit have gone on to play numerous festivals this summer as well as support slots for the likes of Killing Joke, Demob Happy and Drenge. And now they return with another anthemic single.
Their latest track 'Drongo' continues their already successful formula of 90s grunge influences with a modern twist, showing once again that they aren't just another run-of-the-mill guitar group. The standout vocals of frontwoman Theresa Jarvis have become one of the band's most identifiable elements as she equally serenades and howls throughout this new material.
As it stands, Yonaka have no immediate plans to release a full-length album just yet. But given the coverage and acclaim they have received so far, it won't be long before this lot become one of next year's most talked about new acts.
