Having spent the last few years building a cult following with a flurry of breathtaking EPs and singles, Canadian frontwoman Jayda G is now embarking on the first major milestone of her career by announcing her debut album, set to arrive later next month via Ninja Tune.
Inspired by vintage drum machine funk and drawing heavily on Chicago’s house blueprint, the new full-length 'Significant Changes' is being led by the Alexa Dash-collaboration 'Leave Room 2 Breathe', an uplifting and soulful record that embodies the sheer energy and force of her sound, which has also been cemented by a series of flamboyant live shows these last few months.
Speaking about the new album, she added, “I’m trying to bring my two worlds together… to bridge the communication gap, engage people in a new way. I don’t know if people in the electronic music world will want to talk about the environment but I think I should try! I think it’s our duty to use a platform like this in a positive way, that’s our social responsibility.”
