ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No. 45 Misty Miller

After first breaking through with the release of her debut album back in 2011, it's fair to say that a lot has happened in Misty Miller's world since then. The innocent teenage years are now behind her and the now 21-year-old is almost unrecognisable in both appearance and musical direction.

The sweet and naive young girl has become a full-blooded woman with all the attitude and rebellious spirit to match, as her latest offerings of singles 'Happy' and 'Next To You' clearly show.

Harking back to the female-fronted grunge bands of the 90s, 'Happy' is probably the most sarcastic love song we've ever heard, and for that we can only say good things. Recently picked up by Radio 1, the track is a brilliant homage to independence from an artist that is clearly writing about what she knows.

Although there has been short flurry of EPs in the last couple of years, so far a new album has yet to be announced. But given the energy and tenacity of her new work, it shouldn't be long before the crowds demand more.
