After spending the last few months locked away in her studio, emerging 21-year-old singer and producer Cameron Hayes has now completed the work on her forthcoming debut EP as she shares its first single 'Drown'.
With its dark and pulsing sound, the young frontwoman conjures up influences from St. Vincent, Banks and Kate Bush to deliver a wonderfully broad and atmospheric release. Her soaring voice coupled with a bold and anthemic production makes for a fresh and exciting introduction to an artist surely heading for bigger and brighter things.
Speaking about her latest offering, she said, “I wanted to write something that reflected the point I was at in my life and so 'Drown' was born. The lyrics are a personification of the way I felt at the time, through the metaphor of drowning. I wrote the track on piano, then came up with the bass riffs, the drums, the guitar hook, turning it from a beautiful piano ballad to a giant powerhouse of a song. I love it!”
Cameron Hayes' 'Drown' is available to stream and download now, with her new EP expected to arrive later this year. You can also catch her when she performs at London's The Bedford on the 27th February.
