Having already made a name for himself as the founder of Royal Mountain Records, the Canadian label home of Mac DeMarco, Alvvays, U.S. Girls, Orville Peck, Pottery, Calpurnia and more, singer and songwriter Menno Versteeg aka Mav Karlo is now looking to break into the music world as a performer with the announcement of his debut album 'Strangers Like Us'.
With his previously shared singles 'Dig A Hole' and 'Elevator' lighting up the streaming charts these last few weeks, it is fair to say that we are becoming very excited for his first full-length. With a smooth and laid-back aesthetic that channels retro crooners as much as more contemporary names, his latest material is quickly becoming a must-hear listen.
Speaking about his new release, he said, “The goal with the album was to take a good hard look at myself and my behaviour and really get to the heart of the matter. What I kept coming back to was the idea that what makes you human is your flaws. So many of us walk around hiding our flaws all the time, but when you see someone’s flaws and accept them, that’s when you really know each other.”
