After spending the last year introducing herself with a string of impressive initial outings, as well as recently supporting Laufey at her London show last week, Irish singer-songwriter Annika Kilkenny continues to shine once again on her humbling new single 'Sentences'.
Originally one of the first tracks she ever wrote and recorded, this new rendition of 'Sentences' has been given a major facelift and allowed her to share what is one of the more sentimental additions in her catalogue so far. With its rich and sweeping nature, set perfectly to her lofty vocals throughout, she is definitely a name we are going to be hearing a lot more about in the months ahead as well.
Speaking about the new offering, she said, "I remember getting the vocal stems back and being so disappointed at how I didn’t sound ‘as good’ on the track as when singing in all of the vids I post on here. That came down to a multitude of factors; nerves, inexperience in a pro-setting and new-ness to it all in general.
"An artist I respect told me to view these songs as a freeze frame of where I was at that time in life, and at that time I was an intimidated, newly 19 year old trying to navigate the crazy world that is the music industry... I’d also like to put it out as a reminder to myself that perfection isn’t real. Authenticity always baby!"
