After spending the last few years building and cultivating her sound, London-based singer-songwriter, producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Emily Marks has now brought her VERA SACRA project to the wider world and delivered her stunning debut single 'what i want'.
A classically trained cellist, her songs elegantly strike a balance between modern, deconstructed dance, ambient pop and neoclassical influences, resulting in dark, dreamy meditations on love, loneliness and obsession in the capital. Her debut offering stands as a true gem on the new music scene right now. Brimming with innovation and finesse, she quickly establishes herself as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.
Adding about the new release, she said, "I wrote this song in the Summer of 2023, during a confusing time navigating my feelings for emotionally unavailable people in London’s situationship culture. The vocals are whispery, originally recorded in my tiny central London flatshare late at night, accompanied by a whirl of dreamy synths, dance-influenced breaks and melancholic strings. It was a time of a lot of change in my life and the comfort I found in delusion."
