Ben Goldsmith - 'The Start Of Something Beautiful'

8/10

Throughout his brief yet explorative tenure to date, New York's Ben Goldsmith has already proven himself as one of the more enigmatic names doing the rounds. After cementing his dynamic legacy with his stunning debut LP 'The World Between My Ears' last year, he established himself as a true innovator, always ready to develop a new and interesting direction in which to take his sound. And after another heady run of vibrant delights these last few months, he is back once again to unveil his eagerly-awaited sophomore album 'The Start Of Something Beautiful', a record that continues that diverse nature of his.

Collaborating with numerous guest contributors such as Rick Nowels (Lana Del Rey), Alex Hope (Troye Sivan, Alec Benjamin) and Peter Fenn (Myles Smith, Deyaz) for this new release, 'The Start Of Something Beautiful' instantly marks itself as one of his most adventurous releases to date. Explaining that he looked to make this full-length the most eclectic body of work he could produce, his newest outing sees him display his passion for euphoric indie-rock, classic soul, and guitar-driven anthems, making for a wildly enjoyable and unpredictable listen as it plays.

While he has only been making moves these last few years, 'The Start Of Something Beautiful' showcases an artist brimming with countless ideas in which to pursue. Creating such a varied batch of material can sometimes come across as a messy clutter, but Ben Goldsmith embraces the chaos and shines across each and every new track here.
