Billie Marten unveils new single 'Cartoon People'

With her hotly-anticipated new album set to arrive later this month, Bille Marten has gone political as she unveils the next cut from her upcoming full-length.

The new single 'Cartoon People' sees the frontwoman give a fictional appraisal of Donald Trump from the perspective of his daughter, and follows on from the previously shared tracks 'Betsy', 'Blue Sea, Red Sea' and 'Mice' in previewing her new LP 'Feeding Seahorses By Hand', which is set to be released on the 26th April via Sony/Chess Club Records.

Speaking about her latest release, she said, “I just had this image of them sat in some smokey, sleazy bar downtown, with him buying her drinks to keep her mouth shut. ‘Baby there’s a fire today’ acts as the nursery rhyme refrain, kind of like ‘London’s burning’. It’s all sweet and innocent melody wise but it’s really expressing the way the planet’s crumbling a little. I liked playing and toying with a figure through song. It feels expressive and inventive without the threatening tone. I’m present this time around. Aware.”
