Bleachers - 'Bleachers'

7/10

When he first emerged as Bleachers, songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff had just finished with his time as the guitarist of Fun., a period that almost seems like ancient history now. Since then, he has grown into one of the most in-demand names in pop production, producing for the likes of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and St. Vincent in just the last couple of years alone. But despite his newfound appreciation, he is still looking to bring the good times as he delivers his self-titled fourth studio album, a record that sees him explore a new inspiration throughout.

What most stands out across this new release is his acceptable for a full band sound this time around, something that began to bleed in during the last record' Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night'. Now seen as more of a live outfit rather than a one-man band, 'Bleachers' finds itself caught in the midst of his musical ingenuity. With each track exploring an almost completely different feel to the one before it, it has this wildly adventurous spirit that always seems to have something interesting to explore.

It may not be the most succinct or cohesive efforts when compared to his earlier work, but 'Bleachers' still maintains plenty of fun and lively appeal. Antonoff feels completely free to explore whatever he likes here, something his fame has allowed him in recent years.
