Carnival Youth - 'No Clouds Allowed'

7/10

After releasing their debut album in their hometown of Latvia late last year, the sound of indie four-piece Carnival Youth has been spreading across the eurozone ever since as the outfit are now ready to release 'No Clouds Allowed' to their fans in the UK. Filled with its anthemic guitar riffs and powerful songwriting, this new but old work will fit in just nicely with this year's post-modern indie revival.

Starting with the slow-burning 'Never Have Enough', the record slowly unravels itself into a cacophony a bone-shattering guitar anthems and serene soundscapes, giving the release a varied and enjoyable direction. Its mix of style and atmosphere not only helps the music from becoming stale but also shows a great level of ingenuity within the band's own songwriting, making every new track a surprise in its own way.

It is certainly an accomplished release from these Eastern European rockers, and it is clear to see why they are looking to make the UK their next spiritual home. 'No Clouds Allowed' is just what this indie scene needs and we welcome it with open arms.
